As I prepare for my Camino pilgrimage in September 2027, I am beginning to realize that the pilgrimage does not necessarily begin in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.

Perhaps it has already begun.

During my training walks, I am discovering opportunities to slow down, become attentive to God’s presence, and turn ordinary walking into prayer. These moments remind me of the words of Psalm 25:4: “Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.”

Perhaps preparing for a pilgrimage can itself become a pilgrimage.
